Dear Fellow AAA Members
It is with excitement that I share with you the news that the Akron Auto Club will join forces with the AAA Ohio Auto Club in a merger of business operations that will take place this year.
Most people are generally unaware of the history
of AAA, which is a federation of independent motor clubs. At one time in the early to mid-1900s, there were hundreds of smaller county-based clubs like Akron (serving Summit County). Throughout the decades, and in keeping with the changing landscape of travel, insurance and automotive technology development, the federation has undergone many changes to protect the resources of the membership, keep the cost of the membership product low and stable and enhance the benefits we offer.
The decision of club management and our govern- ing board to merge centered around three priorities: preserving and enhancing the benefits of our local members; preserving our local staff and service of- fices; and preserving our ability to continue to serve the Akron and Summit County community as we have traditionally, through travel and traffic safety advocacy, community investment and public affairs. I’m pleased to inform you that the merger with the AAA Ohio Auto Club will allow us to achieve those goals by retaining our dedicated staff and services, expanding our port- folio of member benefits and strengthening our local community engagement.
As the transition into AAA Ohio occurs over the next several months, you can expect to see some changes – mailings, membership cards, club publication, etc. all will undergo transitions. But you can be confident that the same unwavering commitment to our members
