New Travel Trends
Travel has been messy the last couple of years. Even the U.S. Department of State suggested travelers should have a solid backup plan. This has created a new travel trend, a strategy called trip stacking.
Trip stacking is a tactic some travelers use to ensure
they don’t get stuck on their couches if pandemic-related restrictions and protocols force them to change their plans. Simply put the traveler books two or more trips, prioritizing
as they go and always having something in a “semibooked” capacity, meaning flight and hotel reservations have been made but are fully refundable.
If the idea of a solid backup plan sounds wise, you may be able to employ a similar strategy. AAA advises, however, that trip stacking may come at a cost, particularly if you don’t stay on top of the details. For trip stacking to be successful, a traveler has to ensure they don’t get charged for last-minute cancellations.
Terms and conditions are getting more restrictive as travel demand increases. As a result, trip stacking is now more complex, particularly for travelers who aren’t using the service
of a AAA Travel Advisor. A Travel Advisor can not only navigate the terms and conditions to ensure you avoid penalties for cancellations, but they also can reduce stress if you encounter a travel disruption.

Summer and fall travel are expected to boom this year, with 63% of Americans planning to travel. While that surge still won’t break pre-pandemic levels, it does mean that the road to travel’s recovery is getting smoother and now is a wonderful time to book your vacation.
