Exploring Magnificent Glacier National Park
TM
on a Northwest Adventure
by Judie Karhan
The magnificence of Montana’s Glacier National Park cannot be overstated. This is a land of towering mountain ranges, alpine meadows,
deep forests, waterfalls, and nearly 50 glistening glaciers and 200 sparkling lakes. Sprawling more than one million acres, the park is home to 1,000 different species of plants and hundreds of species of animals. Virtually all the plants and animals that existed at the time European explorers first entered the region are present in the park today. It is a vast, pristine ecosystem with icy river-carved mountains that began forming 170 million years ago. It can be said that a journey through Glacier National Park is similar to taking a trip back in time.

Starting from West Glacier, you’ll pass through a steep, walled canyon and see where the Middle and North
Forks of the Flathead come together to form the southern tip of Glacier National Park. The night’s accommodations will be at the historic Glacier Park Lodge, a one-of-a-kind National Park lodging experience.
