AUTOMOTIVE
item often missed is the cabin filter, which filters air coming into your vehicle through the HVAC system; if this is blocked, your AC won’t cool as well. Speaking of the AC system, have it checked to verify it is cooling the inside of your vehicle,
so you remain comfortable on those hot summer days. So that your engine stays cool, have the shop check for any coolant leaks by pressure-testing the radiator and related components.
Other than these main items, the repair shop should check for any drivability issues, steering and suspension concerns, and that the brake system is stopping the vehicle as designed when using it. Also ask the shop to perform a multi-point inspection on your vehicle to determine if anything else needs repaired before you start your trip. Fixing these items before you leave ensures a trouble-free drive on your vacation.
Roadside Assistance and Insurance
The last two things to do before you leave is to verify
that your AAA membership is up-to-date and check your vehicle insurance with AAA to make sure you have adequate coverage for your vacation travel.
If you do have problems on the road with your vehicle this summer, AAA Roadside Assistance personnel can jump- start your vehicle, replace your battery (in limited areas) with a high-quality AAA Battery, tow it to a AAA Approved Auto Repair facility, unlock your vehicle if you accidently lock your keys in it, and provide you with fuel if you run out. But to do
this you must have a valid AAA membership card with you and make sure any other family members, especially children, have Associate AAA memberships. Go to AAA.com/Membership for terms, conditions, and costs of the various types of AAA memberships.
In case you have an accident or must drive a rental vehicle, call a AAA insurance agent to verify you have enough coverage for the type of driving you will be doing this summer. AAA insurance offers coverage through various companies at different price ranges, so go to AAA.com/Insurance for information and to receive a quote.
With quality time spent planning and preparing for the summer vacation ahead, you and your family can have fun and make lots of happy memories together.
So plan, prepare, and hit the road this summer!
