Back in Lima, tour the Larco Museum with its Pre-Columbian artifacts of jewelry, ceramics and pots; then dine in its gardens while reflecting on the captivating cultures and people of Peru.

“Spectacularly scenic” are the best two words to describe this guided tour of Denmark, Norway and Sweden and its fantastic fjords. You are rarely far from magnificent mountains and sparkling waters, whether visiting seaside cities or cruising on deep-cut fjords. In Copenhagen, see the Little Mermaid statue; then in Odense, view Hans Christian Anderson’s birthplace. In Bergen, walk among restored 13th-century buildings of the Hanseatic League and stroll through a fascinating fish market. Travel aboard the fabulous Flam Railway to 3,000 feet above sea level. You tour the glacier country along glorious Geiranger fjord and cruise on serene Sognefjord. Visit Lillehammer’s 1964 Olympic village. Tour Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum and Vigeland Sculpture Park. Hop the islands surrounding Stockholm; see its Royal Palace and center for Nobel Prizes.

This uncommon tour of Iceland commences in the world’s most northern capital, Reykjavik, with
its intriguing blend of modern and traditional Scandinavian cultures. Visit the Viking museum and replica ship, the outdoor folk and sculpture museums, and architecturally exciting buildings. Tour Thingvellir’s ancient outdoor parliament site, the Great Geysir and Gullfoss waterfalls, plus dip
in Blue Lagoon’s geothermal waters. Fly to remote Eastern Iceland for unique experiences on an organic farm, in a rare forest, a highland wilderness (watch for wild reindeer) and a recreated village of native homesteads. Visit an Aurora Borealis exhibit, and look to dark-night skies for dazzling displays of the Northern Lights, potentially visible in October. Then travel along a fjord to a quirky fishing village renowned for local music and reluctantly return to Reykjavik for a flight home.
