ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTRODUCES SYMPHONY OF THE SEAS, By Judie Karhan THE WORLD’S LARGEST CRUISE SHIP
The wow! factor of Royal Caribbean’s innovative ships hit a new high note with the introduction of its latest ship, Symphony of the Seas, earlier this year.
The Symphony of the Seas is currently the largest cruise ship at sea and also has taken the title of “the world’s most Instagrammable ship.”The fourth of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships – 25th in the fleet – the vessel is touted as being an architectural marvel thanks to some of the most advanced technology, digital innovation and outstanding features at sea.
Royal Caribbean welcomes 5,518 guests on its newest ship, which features seven distinctive neighborhoods, the tallest slide at sea with the Ultimate Abyss, and countless adventures for guests of all ages. New ways to play include the Battle for Planet Z, Royal Caribbean’s first glow-in-the-dark laser tag game, and Escape the Rubicon, a custom- built escape room where players must solve a collection of puzzles before time runs out.
Along with new experiences, Royal Caribbean continues to offer family favorites such as the The Perfect Storm trio of waterslides, FlowRider surf simulators, Splashaway Bay waterscape for kids, ice skating, a nine-deck-high zip line, and two rock- climbing walls.
Guests aboard the Symphony of the Seas can also expect high-caliber entertainment, with productions on stage, in the air, under water and on ice.
Headlining the playbill is an all-new show, “Flight: Dare to Dream,” a one-of-a-kind journey through
the past, present and future of air travel and space exploration. The production introduces cutting-edge 3D flying technology, video and automation in the Royal Theater. Space and zero gravity are simulated as actors “float” within a detailed replica of the International Space Station.
Shipboard headline performances also include “1977”, an ice-skating show; “Hairspray”, a Royal Caribbean guest favorite which has received a
choreography and staging makeover; and “HIRO,” an aqua show with high-flying feats, unexpected stunts and extraordinary acrobatics.
Family-friendly Royal Caribbean also sees to it
that accommodations are well-suited to families. The new two-story Ultimate Family Suite brings a one-of-a-kind home away from home to life with whimsical color schemes and a 1,346-square-foot interactive space where families as large as eight can come together, while also
offering ample space and
amenities for “me time.”
Highlights of the
Symphony of the Seas’
Royal Suite Class include an in-suite slide, private cinema with an 85-inch HD TV, LEGO wall, and Royal Genie, the epitome of an ultimate insider and concierge extraordinaire.
The ship also features some new culinary venues: Hooked Seafood, serving New England-inspired seafood and unparalleled ocean vistas; Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, with 31 big-screen TVs and both indoor and outdoor arcades; El Loco Fresh, serving made-to-order tacos and burritos; and Sugar Beach, a signature candy and ice cream shop.
With so many special features and activities, Symphony of the Seas seems to have reached
the pinnacle of shipboard life for its guests, so what could possibly be next for Royal Caribbean? Look for their newest ship, Spectrum of the Seas, to arrive next year.
Miami, Florida, serves as the Symphony of the Seas’ year-round homeport, from which she makes seven- night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings that call on Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s newly revealed destination in the Bahamas.
