Steamboat’s a comin’ and you are aboard! This special event tour launches in Kentucky with a dinner cruise on the Ohio River. Visit the J.D. Lanier Mansion and the Howard Steamboat Museum and Mansion, both built and decorated in the 1800s’ grand Steamboat-era style. Board the Belle of Cincinnati and be a part of riverboat history as your steamboat competes in the annual Kentucky Derby Festival’s Great Steamboat Race against the historic steamer, the Belle of Louisville; during the race, you will relish an onboard dinner and sip Kentucky’s finest bourbons. Tour Sun Valley Farms, a picturesque thoroughbred breeding farm. Later you’ll tour the Old Friends farm facility for retired
and rescued thoroughbreds. This 136-acre farm is a “living history museum of horse racing” where you can see retired Cup Champions, Belmont Stake winners, along with Kentucky Derby and Preakness Champions. Board the Monticello III for a horse- drawn canal boat ride on the historic Ohio-Erie Canal.

This lovely day in May begins at Nemours Mansion and Gardens, previously owned and developed by Alfred DuPont (1864 – 1935). The estate comprises an exquisite 77-room mansion, the largest formal French gardens in North America, a chauffeur’s garage filled with antique automobiles, and nearly 200 acres of scenic woodlands, meadows, and gardens. In the afternoon, a delightful tea lunch is included at the Copeland House at the Mt. Cuba Center, formerly the estate of Mr. & Mrs. Lamont DuPont Copeland. Today, the estate’s gardens focus on native plants and more than 30 acres of formal and naturalistic gardens.
