   Insurance Agent Spotlight:
Joy Jones
The AAA Hudson Valley Insurance Agency is proud to announce its newest addition to the team, Joy Jones. Joy is thrilled to start her new career in the insurance industry. We sat down with Joy to learn more about her and what attracted her to Personal Lines Insurance.
AAA Every Day: How long have you been with AAA Hudson Valley Insurance Agency?
Joy Jones: I have been with the club for about a year and started in member services. I acquired my New York State Property and Casualty license and was promoted to the role of Insurance Sales Representative at the end of 2020.
AAA: What led to your interest in the insurance industry?
JJ: I’ve worked in the customer service field in many capacities and my experiences have fueled my passion for helping others. The insurance and retail industries are very similar in the sense of creating a space to connect with people within the community. On a fundamental level, being an insurance agent is about connecting with the community while also protecting it.
AAA: So far, how has your experience been in the world of insurance?
JJ: It’s been eye-opening to learn the importance of proper coverage and making sure you’re appropriately covered for your current needs. I am amazed how

many times over a person’s lifetime their insurance needs can change to coincide with their life’s journey.
AAA: What is the biggest word of advice that you give to people regarding auto coverage?
JJ: I now understand the importance of having a AAA membership. Unbeknownst to me before working at AAA, putting a roadside or towing request through your auto policy will most likely count as a claim and can hurt you. Insurance carriers also may not offer all of the roadside benefits that the AAA membership covers. Your AAA membership entitles you to four service
calls, including tow, at a fixed annual rate (with a few exceptions). I strongly advise people to secure a AAA membership to protect their car insurance.
AAA: How does the future for personal lines insurance look?
JJ: Ideally, it may be easier to purchase an insurance policy online, however, having a personal insurance agent to advise someone on preventative measures and other best practices is key. Avoiding possible catastrophes is priceless.
AAA: What’s an interesting fact about you?
JJ: I’m originally from the Raleigh, North Carolina, area and I have been living in New York state for almost two years. If you’re planning to visit the Raleigh area, you have to check out all the delicious food!
