 Travel Agent Spotlight: Johnna Eurich
We sat down with Johnna to learn more about her and her time as a Travel Agent.
AAA Every Day: How long have you been in the travel industry?
Johnna Eurich: I have been with AAA as a Travel
Agent for just over four years, though I have had some experience through my previous employment many moons ago. When I moved to the area seven years ago, I started working for AAA as an Auto Travel Consultant. Then shortly thereafter, I was given the best promotion to my current role!
AED: What is your favorite place that you have ever visited?
JE: This is just one of those questions I don’t have a direct answer to. It seems to me that there is a little bit
of “favorite” in all the places I have been. But if I had to choose one, I would say Grand Cayman. I visited this little island during one of my cruises with my husband. The best thing we did while there was rent a Jeep and visit all of the island’s gems, including a town named Hell.
AED: Which types of vacations are your favorite to plan for your clients and why?
JE: I absolutely love structured tours, especially ones from our preferred travel partners. Their tours are set up to give my clients a little of everything special about their destination. Plus, the guides seem to go out of their way to get to know their passengers.
AED: We hear you like to ride your bicycle all over. Any particularly good biking destinations out there that you would suggest your like-minded clients try?
JE: There are so many places to go for every ability. Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Copenhagen, Denmark, are some of the most bike-friendly cities in Europe, or you can try your legs on an alpine climb of 14% grades near Lake Como, Italy. But if you prefer to stay near home, there are tons of options in our neck of the woods. From the nearly flat Erie Canal bike trail that spans out from Albany to Buffalo, to some challenging climbs in the Adirondacks, Upstate New York really has it all!
AED: Any particular traveler tips you would like to share with our readers?
JE: If you want to travel, go for it! Time is our most precious asset and it can never be made up. Don’t
be afraid to go off the grid (safely). Explore the small restaurants and towns; you may be surprised about what you will find. Also, consult with a travel agent. We are your advocates to help you have a great vacation.
AED: What is one really interesting thing we don’t know about you?
DW: Before I moved to New York, I participated in a charity bike ride involving 225+ miles from Hershey, Pennsylvania, to New York City in three days. I did this two years in a row!
