highlight for me was the Chasing Rainbows museum which pays homage to the country queen herself with photographs and other memorabilia from her life and career. Two whole floors include cases filled with Grammy and CMA awards,
as well as costumes from concerts and
blockbuster films like “9 to 5” and “Steel Magnolias” and her famous “Coat of Many Colors.”
Since we were visiting in the fall, the Splash Country water park was not open. However, we were lucky enough to go during the Harvest Festival. This autumn extravaganza was presented by Humana and it included massive jack-o-lantern and light displays and other fall décor throughout the different lands. These features made it very festive during the day, but once it got darker and the pumpkins were lit up, the magic of the festival came to life. There were also “Colossal Pumpkins”
on display between 800 and 1,500 pounds and most of them came from New York State and the greater Northeast. Don’t worry, if you’re taking a trip down this season, you can enjoy the Smoky Mountain Christmas through January 2, 2022.

After spending one more relaxing night at the cabin, we checked out and headed out for our final adventure, the Tanger Outlets in Sevierville. This day was full of fun and shopping (which I’ll thank myself for once I pay my bills). Tip: The stores that are usually popular in New York for fall and winter gear had better deals since their demand in Tennessee is very different ... Score. The trip out to the Smokies was unlike anything I’ve ever done before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to head out to nearby Gatlinburg or see the Dolly Parton statue, but I’ll keep that in mind for next time.
