AAA Traffic Safety Programs
Safety is one of AAA’s most fundamental values, especially when it comes to our roadways. That is one of the many reasons we have a team of highly trained educators and technicians in Traffic Safety. Our team is here for you through all the stages of your life. Whether it’s helping you install a child safety seat when there’s a new baby in the family, teaching your children bicycle safety or reducing your vehicle insurance costs, our safety team is ready to help. Here’s a list of the excellent programs and services provided to our members and our community:
Car seat education and help with installation. Whether you are a new parent or grandparent, or your child is getting older and needs a bigger child safety seat, it
is necessary to make sure the seats are installed and used correctly within your vehicles. Our Certified Child Passenger Technicians will help you secure your child’s seat and show you how to properly harness them to prevent injuries. Our goal is safe mobility for all ages. This service is a complimentary member benefit. Contact us to schedule an appointment with a technician.
Car seat loaner program. Do you have family or friends visiting with children? We can help you transport them safely with the Child Seat Loaner Program. Another great member benefit, the seat can be borrowed for up to one month. Plus, our safety team will assist you in installing the seat and demonstrating its proper use. That’s two perks in one. To borrow a seat, please call 4-6 weeks in advance for the best chance at availability.

School Programs. Keeping our kids safe, when they walk and play outside, is vital. You are never too young to start learning about traffic safety. AAA’s robot mascot, Otto the Auto, makes learning fun and memorable. We also offer additional, age-appropriate programs for older students. Our annual Traffic Safety Poster Contest allows students to show what they have learned.
Teen Driving Safety*. Does the thought of a new teen driver in the family cause fear, excitement or both? Let AAA help. We have resources available to assist you
and your young adult. Annually, our safety team holds a “Dare to Prepare” Parent-Teen Workshop to help educate parents and teens on what to expect in the learning to drive the process.
Five Hour Pre-licensing Classes.* AAA Hudson Valley provides the Five-Hour Pre-licensing class that is DMV certified to help your permit holder advance to the road test phase.
Defensive Driving Classes.* Receive 10% off the base rate of collision & liability insurance. This six-hour class allows you to refresh your driving skills. This course also is available to complete online.
CarFit. This is an educational program for mature drivers to go over how well they “fit” their vehicles. We all want safe, lifelong mobility. Let us show you the benefits of increased visibility and fit, as well as the proper use of vehicle safety equipment.
