Six Flags "El Diablo"
BUSCH GARDENS Williamsburg, VA
In the rich tradition of the classic Italian daredevils, no single man wowed the crowds like Tempesto. Busch Gardens’ daring new roller coaster, Tempesto, lets riders take center stage and recreate his signature stunt. Guests daring enough to take on Tempesto will race into unbelievably tight turns at 63 miles per hour and defy gravity as they roll through a complete inversion 154 feet in the air. Busch Gardens’ newest thrill coaster features three launch experiences and Tempesto’s signature loop-the-loop. The same hills and thrills that made the people cheer “Tempesto!” are waiting for guests at Busch Gardens. Tempesto is located in Festa Italia.
SIX FLAGS GREAT ADVENTURE AND SAFARI Jackson, NJ
The devil is in the details for Six Flags Great Adventure’s new looping coaster. Originally announced in the fall of 2014 as “Looping Dragon,” with an Asian-inspired moniker and location in the Golden Kingdom section, the park’s 13th coaster was re-imagined by park management who opted
for a more “devilish” theme – El Diablo.
“The Jersey devil has deep roots in our state’s
history, and inspired the new theme for our upcoming thrill ride,” said Park President John Fitzgerald.
The giant, fiery red El Diablo looping coaster makes its home next to the world’s top-rated wooden coaster, El Toro, in the Mexican-themed Plaza del Carnaval section. It features riders sitting in “face-off” seats rocketing forward and backward pendulum style until the train gains enough momentum to complete a full revolution seven stories in the air. The coaster then kicks into high gear, completing full revolutions until it stops momentarily with riders suspended upside down, and then reverses direction for even more thrills.
DORNEY PARK & WILDLIFE KINGDOM Allentown, PA
Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, the center of summer fun and family entertainment in the Lehigh Valley, will be adding a new family ride and a barbecue dining experience.
The Cedar Creek Flyers will be added to the lower section of the park across from Stinger. This unique experience is an updated version of a classic thrill
ride. Riders will sit in one of eight “eagles” suspended from arms 28 feet in the air. As the ride spins, the eagles will swing outward – and riders have the unique opportunity to control their flight experience from mild to wild!
Dorney Park will also continue to enhance the dining experience for its guests next year with the addition of the Smokehouse Barbecue, which will be located in the current Patio Pizza location. The new restaurant will feature BBQ favorites such as smoked beef brisket, pulled pork, hush puppies and more!
