Battle for Eire — Action VR Ride
BUSCH GARDENS – Williamsburg, Virginia
A new ride, a new show and the return of popular events highlight 2018 at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
In Battle for Eire — Action VR Ride riders strap
on virtual reality headsets while sitting in a motion simulator as they try to help the last fairy guardian of Ireland rescue the Heart of Eire. This summer a new pyrotechnic and laser light show will debut at the outdoor Royal Palace Theatre. The flavors of Cuba, Brazil, Japan and South Korea are being added to the Food & Wine Festival this year while Scotty McCreery and Andy Grammer are scheduled to perform during the event’s run.
DORNEY PARK & WILDWATER KINGDOM – Allentown, Pennsylvania
As it prepares to open for its 135th season, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom has spent the fall and winter months working to improve the dining experience at the park. A new Tidal Wave Café is scheduled to open when Wildwater Kingdom opens Memorial Day weekend with custom meals like Build
Your Own Mac & Cheese Bowls. New executive chef Donald Stauffer is working on the menu for the Tidal Wave Café as well as adding items to the menu of the Chef’s Grill, featuring changing eat-on- the-go items based on food truck cuisine.
The park also has replaced about 150 feet of track of Thunderhawk, its classic wooden coaster, which has been in the park for 95 years, making it the second oldest behind Whip (98 years).
Dorney Park is introducing a Pre-K Pass this year and it grants complimentary admission to children ages 3 to 5 years old for the entire
2018 season. It’s only available for a limited
time: Guests need to register online before going to the park and registration must be completed by May 28, 2018.
SIX FLAGS GREAT ADVENTURE & SAFARI – Jackson, New Jersey
The world’s first thrill ride themed to DC superhero Cyborg will debut at Six Flags Great Adventure this spring as CYBORG Cyber Spin opens. The ride will stand 70 feet high and spin riders
on three axes, similar to a gyroscope, as they sit with their feet dangling. It also will feature an impressive light display at night, which should attract thrill seekers to the park.
HERSHEYPARK – Hershey, Pennsylvania
The Boardwalk at Hersheypark is adding its
14th watercoaster with the addition of Breakers Edge, the first hydromagnetic coaster with FlyingSAUCER turns, and the world’s longest mat racing slide with Whitecap Racer. On Breakers Edge, riders will climb aboard a four-person, in-line raft and head up and down hills, through tunnels and around tight turns. Over on Whitecap Racer, visitors can compete against others as there are six lanes of colored slides – including two sets of looping tunnels – and a timing system at the finish line.
