Enchanting Canyonlands
John Ford, and there might even be a stop to see a traditional Navajo weaving demonstration.
Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon, known for its coloration and slot canyons, provide opportunity to explore and relax. Perhaps you’ll enjoy a float trip down the Colorado River.
The spellbinding “hoodoos” in Bryce Canyon National Park were created by wind, erosion, and iron oxidation. A favorite of visitors,
the “hoodoos” are frequently photographed and
are some of Utah’s most unusual shapes. They are perhaps best seen from above at famous viewpoints in the park, including Bryce Point, and the aptly named Inspiration Point.
At Zion National Park the scenery is a direct contrast to the view experienced at Bryce Canyon National Park. While the Bryce “hoodoos” are brilliant when seen from above, at Zion, you’ll gaze upward at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink and red that soar into the brilliant blue sky.
The American Southwest is a panoramic stage for Mother Nature’s most majestic performance – a memorable vacation to be sure, from the vastness of the canyons and national parks, to the crimson landscapes and diverse scenery, this all-American canyonlands journey is absolutely enchanting.
The vast, stunning national parks of the American West deserve all the accolades and superlatives normally used to describe them. Individually, each one is breathtaking in its unique grandeur and majesty. Collectively, they are mind-boggling and awe- inspiring, a panoply of remarkable natural wonders, dazzling panoramas and historic landmarks.
Travelers who want to cross multiple national parks off their bucket list in one fell swoop can do so on a AAA Discoveries tour with Insight Vacations, whose Enchanting Canyonlands itinerary offers a comprehensive exploration of the national parks in the Southwest. Travelers discover the mystery and magic of the parks through immersive experiences while enjoying deliciously authentic dining with accommodations at handpicked hotels in the best locations.
The trip starts in Scottsdale, Arizona, then heads for scenic Sedona and the iconic Grand Canyon National Park. As the first park on the itinerary, this national treasure sets the stage for further wonders to come. The sun rises over the canyon’s rim, the night sky fading, and daylight shimmering over vast ochre-tinged gorges formed millions of years ago – the contrast with any urban buzz couldn’t be starker.
The journey pivots to Utah’s Monument Valley, where the buttes and mesas are so striking that they have been used as the backdrop for numerous films, from “Stagecoach” to “Forrest Gump.” But unlike Forrest Gump, you don’t have to explore the valley on foot. Instead, a local Navajo guide takes guests through this tribal area on a private ATV tour. Sweeping views of The Mittens and The Totem Poles can be enjoyed from the lookout named for director
