CSAA Insurance Group and AAA Schuylkill County Launch Fire Safety Campaign with the American Red Cross
CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer, and AAA Schuylkill County have partnered to support the American Red Cross to promote fire safety and enhance disaster preparedness.
The AAA Fire Safety Campaign encourages AAA members to learn about fire safety by viewing a home fire safety checklist. The checklist, available in both English and Spanish, includes tips for cooking safety, appliance safety and suggestions for a
home fire escape plan. The checklist also encourages escape plan practice drills and timing recommendations for smoke alarm replacement and testing.
For each visit to www.RedCross.org/ AAAFireSafety, CSAA Insurance Group will make a donation of $5 to the American Red Cross to install smoke alarms in homes of underserved communities across the nation. According to the National Fire Protection Association, properly installed smoke alarms cut the risk of home fire deaths in half. Nearly two-thirds of home fire deaths occurred in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
“Smoke detectors save lives,” said Sue Smyrl, AAA Schuylkill County spokesperson. “This educational checklist will not only help our AAA members be prepared in the event of a disaster, but will also help the American Red Cross install smoke alarms in the homes of families in need. With the support of AAA members, we can all protect and save lives.”
