Tour the Majestic Canadian Rockies
L
Few places on earth rival the pristine natural beauty of the Canadian Rockies, where wintry scenes of majestic snow-covered mountains transform into rushing streams, fertile forests and vast fields of alpine wildflowers upon the arrival of spring and summer.
Clear skies, glacial fields and waterfalls, deep blue lakes as clear as crystal...these are the images of
a wilderness that offers a refreshing escape from the high-tech modern world. Fortunately, visitors to this region do not need to give up their creature comforts. All of the splendors of the Rockies can be experienced in comfort with VIA Rail Canada and AAA Schuylkill County. This tour of British Columbia and Alberta includes the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Vancouver, wildly beautiful Banff Springs, Jasper and Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies, as well as Calgary, Alberta.
With two nights in Vancouver, you’ll enjoy the sights of Stanley Park, Chinatown, the waterfront, and Gastown. Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood, Gastown grew from a single tavern founded in 1867. Today, the district retains its historic charm and independent spirit. Victorian architecture houses a thriving fashion scene, décor boutiques, galleries and eateries. Vancouver's Chinatown, established in the 1890s, has been humming busily for more than a century with vivid colors, exotic
cuisine and vibrant culture. Rich in history and architecture, this area east of downtown boasts North America's third-largest Chinatown after New York and San Francisco.
Following the visit to Vancouver, it’s on to Jasper. The eastbound train journey will whisk you past
the peaks of the Monashee Mountain and stunning views of Pyramid Falls cascading down Mt. Cheadle. Relax in the dome car as you experience 360-degree views of the glistening glaciers of Albreda Icefields, where you can ride across a mass of glacial ice
that is more than 1,000 feet thick. Spend two nights in Jasper before heading for gorgeous
Lake Louise, where you’ll stay at the famous Fairmont Chateau. The following day, head for Banff Springs for a two-night stay at the Fairmont Banff Springs.
Departing Banff, leave the wonders of the Rockies for the prairies of Alberta en route to the Kananaskis Valley. In Calgary, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a local ranch, take a wagon ride in search
of buffalo, and delight in a traditional Albertan barbecue.
We invite you to join us on this wonderful journey. There’s so much to explore in majestic Canada!
