Deborah Barga, CEO, AAA Shelby County
With roadside assistance continually ranked as the leading benefit of a AAA membership, we want to ensure you are receiving the timely, quality service you and other members expect. That's why a roadside technician will ask to see your photo ID upon arrival
to verify you are the covered member. This step helps prevent someone else from taking advantage of your paid membership.
When nonmembers "borrow" or misuse road service benefits, members may lose access to valuable roadside assistance services, response times can be delayed while our network is distracted with requests from nonmembers, and the costs
of serving these requests can lead to higher membership dues.
When membership benefits are misused, paying members may be inconvenienced with longer wait times. Delivering a high-quality member experience is of the utmost importance. The requirement of checking photo IDs at the roadside helps protect the member and the value of their AAA membership.
AAA membership benefits are exclusive to the cardholders and do not extend to family or friends, regardless of who owns the vehicle. Therefore, you might want to consider adding your spouse or children (age and other restrictions apply) to your membership as an associate member.
Although the average member uses only one road service call per year, we understand that there may be years when you require more than the average amount of service. In any single membership year, you may use up to four road service calls; however, abuse or above-average use of road service over successive membership years may result in cancellation of your membership.
So remember, the next time you request roadside assistance, whether through the AAA mobile app or by calling either 937- 498-2171 or 1-800-AAA-HELP, your roadside technician will
ask to see your ID upon arrival as a safeguard to protecting you and your membership.
