AmericA’s music cities
Ryman Auditorium
AAA Shelby County invites you to explore the legendary cities of Memphis and Nashville on a musical journey through Tennessee, October 18-22, 2017.
The first stop on this “Tennessee Sounds Good
to Me” motor coach trip is Memphis, Home of the Blues and Birthplace of Rock ‘N’ Roll. This vibrant city is home to such legendary artists as B.B. King, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and John Lee Hooker. A city tour
will introduce us to Memphis’ historical and cultural roots, including a visit to St. Jude’s Danny Thomas/ ALSAC Pavilion and famous Beale Street, where dozens of bars and clubs feature live music.
A Platinum Tour of Graceland, once home to Elvis, illuminates his life, career and interests. Explore the Graceland mansion with a self-guided audio tour that features stories and commentary from Elvis and
his daughter,
Lisa Marie. Walk
through the
grand home’s
many rooms,
including the Polynesian-style
jungle room
where the family
liked to relax.
Step outside to
see the house
where Elvis’
father had his office and managed his famous son’s career. Then take in Elvis’ many awards in the Trophy Building, followed by a walk through the Racquetball Building where his stage outfits are on exhibit.
Finally, wrap up the Graceland Mansion tour in the Meditation Garden where Elvis and his family have been laid to rest. Your Platinum Pass includes access to special exhibits. You can stroll along a tree-lined street
Nashville, TN
to check out more than 20 vehicles at the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum. His famous pink Cadillac is just one of many highlights.
The following day, our tour continues to Nashville. This is Music City. It’s in this small, powerful community where Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash performed, eventually escalating stardom. You will undoubtedly be astounded by the musical talent on display as
you visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The world’s largest popular music museum offers ever- changing exhibits featuring the legends of country music past and today’s hottest stars.
A morning sightseeing excursion of Nashville includes Music Row, home
of RCA Studio B, the famous recording studio where Elvis recorded over 200 songs. Roy
Orbison, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins and many more have recorded classic hits here. In the afternoon there will be free time allocated to spend at your leisure, perhaps shopping at Opry Mills, the largest outlet site in the state of Tennessee.
In Nashville, guests will enjoy accommodations at the lavish Gaylord Opryland Resort, which features beautiful gardens, spacious guest rooms, and on-site dining and shopping. There will also be a dinner at Ellendale’s restaurant, offering tantalizing Southern cooking and live entertainment. The evening will conclude with a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, Tennessee’s number one attraction and world-famous entertainment complex.
