the Casa Rosada, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Bank of the Argentine Nation’s headquarters.
The Casa Rosada is the seat of the Argentine national government and houses the president’s office as well as a museum focusing on former presidents of the country. It was from the balconies of the Casa Rosada that Juan and “Evita” Perón addressed the masses during the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires
TRAVEL
By John T. Garcia
Food, sightseeing, music and dancing are just some of the draws to visiting South America, but no two cities offer more of all that than Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In Rio, the second most-populated city in Brazil behind São Paulo, music flows through the city as it is home to Carnival, the annual celebration before Lent begins. Samba and bossa nova notes fill the air as do the aromas of the city’s various churrascarias, or steakhouses, where a variety of meats are grilled. And you will need to eat because you’ll need energy for your adventure.
While nearly everyone who visits Rio has a photo of Christ the Redeemer, the large statue on Corcovado mountain that overlooks the city, or Sugarloaf Mountain, few make the journey up to the top of each. The statue of Jesus Christ stands with his arms stretched 92 feet apart and sits 2,300 feet above sea level. Over on Sugarloaf, a cable car carries visitors to the peak, nearly 1,300 feet above Guanabara Bay, but with a panoramic view of Rio.
From Rio, head west-southwest to the largest waterfall system
in the world: Iguazu Falls. The Iguazu River creates the border between Brazil and Argentina; however, many of the falls are in Argentina. More than 250 waterfalls, with drops from 196 feet to up to 270 feet, are spread out over 1.7 miles of river and canyon. An airport is nearby for easy access and helicopter tours of the falls are available, as well as boat and train tours, for different views.
Heading south from the falls, your next stop will be Buenos Aires. The music and dance changes to the tango here, which has been called the Paris of South America. The city center, Plaza de Mayo, has not only seen notable events in the country’s history but also is home to some famous landmarks including
