While onboard, I posed a few questions to Captain Diego Michelozzi and General Manager Anatoli Makaev:
Q: When did you know you wanted a career at sea?
A: Captain – Believe it or not it was my obsession with “The Love Boat” television show and wanting to be Captain Stubing. I am living the dream – and every day is filled with joy and gratitude.
A: General Manager – I grew up in Bulgaria and spent days watching the cargo ships sailing the Danube. I was hooked, and after graduating from Hotel Management University, my training led me to the sea.
Q: What are your five top recommendations a Splendor guest should experience?
A: Captain – Attend the captain’s cocktail party and meet my amazing officers and staff. Have dinner at all our fabulous specialty restaurants. Watch our Broadway-style shows, the entertainment is world-class. Order a specialty coffee and chat with fellow guests in the popular Coffee Connection Cafe. Allow my staff and crew to spoil you and make your cruise vacation the best.
A: General Manager – Dine on lobster tempura and gigantic pink tiger prawns at our Asian specialty restaurant, Pacific Rim. Swim in our infinity pool overlooking the back of the ship. Take the time to walk about the ship and notice all the beautiful areas (and artwork) inside and out. Enjoy a crafted cocktail from our trained mixologists while watching a spectacular sunset.
