The start of a
new year is a
good time to plan
ahead while also a
time for reflection.
Among the many
unforgettable events
of the first year of
being your chairman
is the wonderful
memory for my
wife Pam and I of
my Chairman’s trip through Ireland, and the great
group that shared our adventure on the Emerald
Isle. I am looking forward to 2014
and the opportunity to serve as
your chairman.
I was recently asked how long
I have been a AAA member. I
replied proudly that “I have been
a AAA member for more than
30 years, upgrading to a Plus
Membership more than 15 years
ago.”
That question caused me to
reflect on the many services my
membership has provided over
those 30-plus years. I have used the vehicle title
transfer service, been helped with the replacement
of a title, used the notary service many times,
assisted in obtaining a personalized license plate,
bought foreign currency, towed one time, assisted
with a flat tire, and was helped with registration
replacement when “someone”misplaced my
sticker. I have also obtained maps, numerous
TripTiks and TourBooks over the years, which have
been very helpful. Of course, our card provides
many other discount opportunities. My wife
reminded me of one we had while vacationing in
Myrtle Beach. The Tanger Outlets offer a “Show
Your Card and Save” discount package for AAA
cardholders. One of our deals amounted to buying
three pairs of shoes for the price of two. That deal
more than paid for my membership.
It has always been comforting for me to know
that no matter whether I’m at
home or traveling around the
country, I am covered by my
AAA membership. I hope you
take advantage of all the many
benefits of the AAA membership
card in your wallet. It is our
pleasure to be with you as we
begin 2014 and wish you and
yours a healthy, happy and safe
new year.
