I
n 1902 there were only 150 miles of horse-traveled
roads in America, virtually no route markings, and
only 23,000 automobiles in the country. That year a
small group of 1,500 Charter Members of the newly
founded American Automobile Association came
together to make a difference. Their vision was to
create safer roads and vehicles, and to increase
the rights of both drivers and passengers. Their
lobbying efforts were a bold statement of the time
as the automobile industry was beginning to take
shape, and new technology was changing the way
Americans lived, worked and played.
More than 100 years later our goal remains the
same as those 1,500 Charter Members— to serve you
through a not-for-profit organization of clubs. As we
measure what has changed, it isn’t so hard to imagine
today’s technological advances continue to influence
the way we live, work and play, just like they did
during the turn of the last century. For this reason we
will continue developing new programs, products and
services tomeet your evolving needs, not only on the
side of the road, but on the road of life.
Today, you have a lot of options when it comes to
roadside assistance, saving for retirement, planning

a vacation, or insuring your home and car. The digital
age has made maps and directions a click away,
and do-it-yourselfers love combing the internet for
travel itineraries and last minute deals, but what is
sometimes overlooked is by far the most important
thing we do, coming through for you when things
don’t go according to plan. You can call it assurance,
peace of mind or preparing for Murphy’s Law,
but when you call us you know you’re getting a
professional, well-trained subject matter expert with
no hidden agenda, because we exist for you, the
member, not corporate shareholders. Moreover, as
a AAA member you’re entitled to your coverage as
both a driver or as a passenger in someone else’s
vehicle, when getting a discount on a hotel stay, or
saving instantly at one of 160,000 ShowYour Card &
Save locations.
As one of 53 million AAA members, you are invited
to take the time to get to know us, and if you’ve been
a member for a long time you may be surprised
what we can do for you. With 11 convenient office
locations, a full-service Travel and Insurance Agency,
and a plethora of Financial Products and Services,
we’re here for you.
