LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Believe it or not, my first experience using a
MagicBand was last October. By Emily Gnacik
With as many times as I have been to Walt Disney World parks, I had never gotten the opportunity.
I didn’t realize what I was missing out on. The MagicBand experience really adds to the convenience and ease of a Walt Disney World vacation. Plus, it’s just cool.
My sister and I made a last-minute decision to visit Walt Disney World for a long
weekend. Knowing that a lot of
things can be connected to My
Disney Experience online, I was
able to keep all of our upcoming
plans together. We already had our
park and party tickets, our dining
reservations and our FastPasses
selected and ready to go. But the
last piece of the puzzle was missing.
First to arrive, I found myself in
Disney Springs staring at a giant
wall of solid color and special edition
bands. Ultimately, I chose pink for
her and the crowd-favorite millennial
pink for myself. The next part was
pretty easy. I opened the package
and linked the number on the back of the band to my account through the Walt Disney World app. Just like

that, all my plans were connected to my wrist. Talk about magic.
I know, I’m a little late to the party here, but I have to tell you, this was a truly awesome experience. Guests staying on property can use their MagicBands to charge food and merchandise purchases and to enter their rooms. So, forget having to carry and search
through your wallet all the time. Just tap against the Mickey head, wait for the green light and go. Guests also can use their bands to access PhotoPass pictures.
Another fun thing about this craze is that you can collect MagicBands. Disney releases different bands for special events, holidays and characters. Once linked to My Disney Experience, the bands become interchangeable. Just like your ears, you can have one to coordinate with every outfit and every park you visit. If you’re a resort guest, you will automatically receive your bands in the mail before your trip with all of your plans already linked. You also can get them online or in stores on
property for an additional cost.
