PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Spring into Action

In the Northeast, we are gearing up for the start of spring. This means longer days, warmer weather and so many more recreational options! Mid-March
we will turn our clocks ahead to gain an hour of sunlight, which means we will lose an hour of sleep. It can take people a while to adjust to the time change and ultimately can be a factor in Drowsy Driving. This year, March 14-20 is Sleep Awareness Week, an annual weeklong observance by the National Sleep Foundation to remind us to prioritize sleep.
According to a 2020 poll by the National Sleep Foundation, the majority of American adults that experience daytime
sleepiness 5-7 days a week see their lack of energy negatively affect their mood, social behaviors, ability to exercise and even think clearly. If you get plenty of rest at night, you’ll feel more refreshed and ready to get behind the wheel for your morning commute or to take your spring road trip.
Hopefully, this spring will allow us more traveling opportunities. Our Auto Travel experts have put together TripTiks for members with pre-packaged itineraries ideal for the season. Journeys include drive trip destination suggestions. Visit AAA.com/RoadTripReady to get ideas and more information. Plus, when you’re ready for your next adventure, our Travel Agents are here and happy to help guide you through the process and book your trip!
Speaking of spring road trips, winter can be harsh on your vehicle. Before you set off to your destination (even if you’re just going back and forth between your home and the office) make sure to give your car a checkup. Inspect your car battery to ensure it doesn’t die and leave you stranded. Change your oil and check your fluids. Important fluids to note include radiator, brake, transmission and windshield wiper. Check your brakes and your tires. Of course, it’s also a good idea to keep an emergency roadside safety kit handy.
Remember, if you do find yourself in a situation where you need help, AAA is here 24/7. Call us or request service online at AAA.com. To make the process even easier, download the AAA Mobile App and access your membership card from your phone. The app will also help you locate nearby gas stations and Approved Auto Repair facilities. A little preparation goes a long way!
