With warmer weather and kids home from school, it allows us to take a longer family vacation. So how do we entertain the children you ask? Consider taking them to an amusement park filled with frills and thrills. Whether it’s close enough to drive to or a bit farther from home, we’ve got the latest and greatest updates for some of the attractions where AAA Members get a discount on admission.
Six Flags Great Escape
Queensbury, New York (55 minutes from Albany)
Up for a quick drive into the Adirondack Mountains? Opening the weekend of May
21, this longtime local favorite and historic amusement park offers more twists and turns than ever. With great classic rollercoasters like the Comet and Steamin’ Demon, you also can’t miss newer thrills like looping Greezed Lightnin’ or the sensational spin of Pandemonium. Don’t worry, parents ... there is plenty of family- friendly fun to be had as many of the original Storytown U.S.A. attractions are still giving kids the fantastical experience they did when it first opened. Make sure to visit the nostalgic Alice
in Wonderland Garden walkthrough, the Grand Carousel, The Storytown Train and, of course, the elegant Swan Boats. Then, head over to Hurricane Harbor waterpark in the heat of the day which is included in park admission.
Six Flags New England
Agawam, Massachusetts (90 minutes from Albany)
Seeking adventure? A visit to this amusement park allows you to plunge into the world of Superheroes and Villains. Popular rides include Harley Quinn Spinsanity, Batman The Dark Knight, Superman The Ride and The Joker 4D Free Fly Coaster. With all of this action-packed excitement, of course, there also are kid-approved attractions. Be sure to check out this park’s Hurricane Harbor, the biggest waterpark in all of New England, included in park admission. There’s something
for everyone, whether you’re looking to relax in Adventure River or an exclusive cabana or go plummeting down into Cannonball Falls.
