Capital Holiday Lights in the Park
is a Family Tradition
It’s a family tradition in the Capital Region and beyond to visit Price Chopper/Market 32 Capital Holiday Lights in the Park in Albany’s historic Washington Park
for the holidays. Best of all, proceeds from the show benefit the year-round youth programs of the Albany Police Athletic League Inc., serving the youth of Albany since 1988. PAL is a juvenile crime prevention program that accomplishes its goals by presenting various educational, recreational, and social opportunities, with activities such as after-school clubs, mentoring, Police Explorers, lacrosse, track events and much more.
This light show began in 1997 as a small, drive-through light show put on by Albany PAL and has grown to the current 2-mile, 125+ displays and thousands of sparkling lights, winding through the exquisite carriage paths and scenic lakefront of Washington Park. At the end of the show, guests visit the beautifully decorated Lake House, which comes alive with seasonal crafts and vendors, costumed characters, delicious food and, of course, a visit with Santa. The show is open nightly beginning Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. Price Chopper/Market 32 Capital Holiday Lights in the Park runs through Jan. 2, 2020.
Whether you use your family car, take a trolley ride through the Park, or a horse and carriage ride, you’re sure to enjoy the beauty of the season in style. Fun fact: each year there are several marriage proposals during the show that PAL helps to orchestrate. Love is definitely in the air and thus begins another family tradition.
There’s something
for everyone at Price

Capital Holiday Lights
in the Park. For those
who enjoy a walk around
the Lake, the popular Taste of the Holidays
events are the perfect way to enjoy some pre-holiday time with friends and family. These events take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 (Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Event) and Sunday, Nov. 24 (Chili, Chowder & Soup Fest), and feature tastings from local establishments, as well as music, food, fun and Santa. These festivities are very popular, so be sure to get your tickets early. For those who love to spend quality time with their fur babies, Monday, Nov. 25, is Pet Walk Night. In the spirit of the season, proceeds from the walk nights go to PAL’s Charities of Choice for 2019.
For information or questions about the show, contact PAL at 518-435-0392 or visit albanypal.org. Every Kid Needs A PAL.
