How To Have a Safe, Happy Holiday Season

This is the season of giving, celebration and reflection. Over the past two years, we have been reminded more than ever to be thankful for what we have and what matters most. Our health, friends
and family are all things that we should cherish and appreciate. Holiday festivities are a perfect way to rejoice and honor them. Here are ways to have a safe and happy holiday season:
Research – For those who are visiting far-off places, familiarize yourself with health and safety guidelines in those areas. Check with travel providers and destinations before departure for the most up-to-date information. AAA Travel Agents can further help you with any questions you may have about an upcoming trip.
Prepare – Before you travel, check the forecast. Be aware of what weather may be coming your way so you can pack accordingly. If you’re planning to drive somewhere, make sure your vehicle has been given
a recent check-up. You’ll want to know that your tire pressure, fluid
levels and battery are all good to go. Also, keep your snow removal and emergency items available just in case you run into any roadside trouble. Of course, AAA is always here for you if you do get stranded, but it is a good idea to be equipped with things like flashers, jumper cables and extra antifreeze. And don’t forget to include an extra charger for your cell phone.
Plan Ahead – If you’re going to drink at a holiday party, pick someone in your group to be the designated driver. It’s okay to have fancy Christmas cocktails and New Year’s champagne, just have a game plan to be sure you can celebrate responsibly. It’s simple, drive sober or get pulled over. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in the days between these two holidays in 2018, there were 285 drunk-driving- related fatalities in the United States. All of them were preventable.
No matter how you celebrate, you’ll certainly make memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s to a safe and healthy conclusion to 2021 and a great start to the New Year!
