AAA Approved Auto Repair facilities are not the only repair facilities capable of providing quality repairs.
As the automotive fleet age has increased over the last few years, whether you own a new or older vehicle, it has become increasingly critical to maintain and repair those vehicles in both an economical and a competent manner to make sure they are safe and reliable to drive. So how do you go about doing this? Well your local AAA club has many ways to assist in maintaining your vehicle.
APPROVED AUTO REPAIR
The first area to look at is the repair facility that is going to repair and maintain your vehicle; you can go by word of mouth or advertising
to pick one to use. But a better way is to look
at AAA’s Approved Auto Repair program, with approximately 7,200 automotive repair facilities across the U.S. and Canada.
Each facility is annually inspected and certified in up to 10 mechanical areas by a AAA representative. They must offer AAA members a written estimate if requested, document any additional work related to the original repair, and offer a minimum of 24 months or 24,000 miles labor and parts warranty.
Additionally, they must perform a free visual maintenance inspection with other paid work, they must return old parts if requested at the beginning of the repair, and must be willing to submit to arbitration if requested by a member. They also must employ ASE or manufacturer’s certified technicians and have ongoing update training. Additionally, all AAR facilities offer Discounts and Rewards savings on repair work to AAA members, so ask the next time you are in for service what the Discounts and Rewards offer is at your AAR facility.
Along with automotive repair programs, AAA also certifies auto body repair shops under similar criteria as the repair shops.
AAA BATTERY PROGRAM
Another way AAA can help you maintain
your vehicle’s reliability is by using our battery program. If you feel you may need a battery, or if you need a jump start, one of our AAA battery service people can come out and give you a free battery, charging and starting system check.
You can call 1-800-AAA-HELP or go to AAA.com and get a battery quote on line, then have the high quality, competitively priced battery delivered and installed by one of
our trained AAA technicians. This service is available in most AAA areas, but there are some areas that may not have coverage, so be sure
to check with a AAA representative before ordering.
AAA MAINTENANCE REMINDERS
How can you remember when to get normal service done on your vehicles? It’s easy if you
use AAA’s free Auto Manager service. Go to AAA.com/automotive/automanager and register each vehicle you own. Then, as each vehicle comes to an appropriate mileage you will receive reminder e-mails for each vehicle’s service that is due. No more trying to remember what is needed and when it is due.
If you have questions about automotive repairs or maintenance, or would like to comment on the AAR program or recommend a shop, please contact AAA Schuylkill County.
