TECHNOLOGY – including maintenance reminders and other safety alerts – hasn’t reduced the number of drivers stranded
on the roadside. Breakdowns are actually happening more than ever.
HOW AND WHEN TO CALL FOR AAA SERVICE
When calling for AAA service, please follow these steps: (1) Have your
AAA membership card at the phone with you. (2) Be ready to tell us your name, membership number and expiration date. (3) Tell us the year, make, color and license plate number of the vehicle. (4) Tell us the exact location
of the vehicle, including the nearest crossroad or intersecting street. (5) Inform us which service you need: start, fuel delivery, tire change, etc. (6) Tell us the phone number from which you are calling.
In the U.S. or Canada, call the AAA Supernumber at 1-800-222-4357 (1-800-AAA-HELP).
ONLY AAA MEMBERS CAN RECEIVE AAA SERVICE
AAA services, including Emergency Road Service, are provided only for
the member whose name appears on the membership card. Service is not available to any nonmember who may be driving the member’s vehicle, even if this person resides in the same household. Associate memberships can and should be purchased for other eligible drivers in your family.
SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS
During severe weather conditions, Emergency Road Service vehicles are in great demand – by the club and by many police departments. During these conditions, it may be necessary for us to provide service only to those members away from home or a place of safety.
It is extremely important that we have equipment available to send to members stranded outdoors. Also, we must be able to remove vehicles blocking the roadways.
The club reserves the right to provide service on a priority basis. As equipment becomes available, service will then be provided to vehicles at home or parked off the street.
Medical and safety-forces personnel with a bona fide emergency should identify themselves and advise us of their organization/department and nature of the emergency.
ADJUSTMENT REGULATIONS
On those occasions when service is not available from AAA facilities, members will be reimbursed for their expense, based on the prevailing commercial rate. If service from AAA facilities is available, but not requested by the member, reimbursements will be considered based on AAA contract rates.
Adjustments will be considered when the following conditions have been met: the member should always attempt to secure AAA road service by calling 1-800-222-4357 (1-800-AAA-HELP.)
If AAA service is not available for any reason, the member may obtain non-AAA service and submit an itemized receipt showing the member’s name, date of service, location, amount paid and type of service provided. Please add your membership number and information about the circumstances of the call. This information will help us to properly evaluate the claim.
All receipts must be submitted within 60 days. Please allow two weeks for processing.
Submit receipts to: AAA Akron Auto Club, 100 Rosa Parks Drive, Akron, OH 44311-2015
TURNPIKES AND TOLL ROADS
AAA Emergency Road Service may not be available on some turnpikes and toll roads. Always ask for AAA service and/or present your AAA card to the driver. Should it be necessary for the member to pay, please submit the receipt following the adjustment policy described above.
If your vehicle is started before the service arrives, call the club immediately to cancel the call! Each service call is charged to the member. Also, we may be able to reroute the truck to another member who needs help.
ALWAYS CARRY YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD
Your AAA membership card identifies you as being eligible for service. Have it ready when you call. Also, you must show the card to the driver before service can be provided. Please tell our operator if you do not have your card. Members who cannot present their card may have to pay for the call and then submit a receipt for adjustment consideration. SPECIAL NOTE: The club might require you to show positive identification.
VEHICLES COVERED BY AAA SERVICE
The club will provide service to four-wheel, motor- driven vehicles of the passenger, pleasure, recreational, rental or commercial type as described below – if these services can be safely delivered with vehicle servicing equipment.
IMPORTANT:
Your AAA Akron membership (Basic, AAA Plus or Plus RV) provides four Emergency Road Service calls per cardholder, per membership year. More than four calls will be paid by the member at the time of the service. Excessive use of Emergency Road Service, or failure to pay for additional calls or services, may result in the nonrenewal or cancellation of your membership.
SPECIAL NOTE:
AAA policies vary from area to area. Check with the local AAA club for full details.
