Ahhh...the transition from
Winter to Spring. A time
when many folks dust off
the remnants of the chilly
winter and prepare for
new beginnings, whether
it means “Spring Cleaning”
your home,
pulling
weeds in
preparation to plant a garden
or scheduling a maintenance
appointment for your vehicle to help
it perform more efficiently. It’s all
about downsizing, organizing and

Although most people perform
one or all of the tasks above, may I
suggest you take this opportunity
to perform another task and “Spring
Clean” your wallet. Every Spring I go
through and evaluate my credit cards
and member cards. The first point of business is
to evaluate which cards provide me with the most
rewards and which produced the most savings
over the past year. Two top performing cards that
are always in my wallet are my AAA Northampton

10 Tips From AAA to Help
Keep Your Credit Card Safe
• Treat your credit cards like money and keep them
as safe as you do your cash.
• Review your monthly statements and ensure that
all charges are accurate.
• Report billing errors and lost/stolen cards
immediately for a timely resolution and to reduce
the possibility of fraudulent activity.
• Don’t give credit card numbers over the phone
unless you are familiar with the merchant or you
have initiated the call.
• Merchants use the signature on your card to verify
you are the cardholder. If you prefer they request
identification, you can forego signing the back and
this will require the merchants to request ID.
• Keep receipts for your ATM, credit card and debit
card for reconciliation of purchases.
• Keep a list of your credit card numbers and the
issuer’s telephone number in a safe place to assist
you in quickly canceling them in case they are lost
or stolen.
• Shred credit card offers, credit card receipts
and anything else that displays your credit card
information when you are done with it.
